The Gin Sour.

A simple Stratton cocktail you can make at home.

Want a cocktail that looks fancy, feels indulgent, but is super easy to make (and totally

customisable)? Meet the Gin Sour - the fluffiest, most forgiving drink in your repertoire.

GIN SOUR RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

  • 60ml gin of your choice (we love a floral gin like Nikka Coffey, 44°N, or Citadelle - all Dan Murphy’s finds)

  • 20ml lemon juice (freshly squeezed - always!)

  • 15ml simple syrup (store bought; or mix 1:1 sugar to hot water, stirred until dissolved)

  • 30ml egg white or aquafaba (that magical liquid from a tin of chickpeas - perfect for a vegan-friendly froth)

  • 30–45ml Earl Grey tea (to elevate those floral gin notes)

 METHOD

  1. Brew your tea first - let it cool while you prep everything else

  2. In a cocktail shaker, combine all ingredients

  3. Dry shake (no ice!) for 15–20 seconds - this builds that dreamy, fluffy texture

  4. Add ice and shake again for 10-15 seconds until chilled

  5. Double strain into your chosen glass:

Short glass? Add a few ice cubes

Martini glass? No ice, just pure silky goodness

  6. Garnish with 3 drops of bitters and a dehydrated lemon wheel (or go classic with a lemon slice and cherry)
