Hot Cross Bun Espresso Martini

A simple Easter cocktail you can make at home.

Meet the Hot Cross Bun Espresso Martini:

Warm spice, rich coffee, and just enough sweetness to keep things interesting.

RECIPE (SERVES 1)

INGREDIENTS

  • 45ml vodka

  • 30ml espresso (fresh or cold brew)

  • 20ml coffee liqueur

  • 15ml spiced syrup (recipe below)

  • Optional: 10ml vanilla syrup

  • Garnish: cinnamon (or cocoa powder) for dusting

QUICK SPICED SYRUP (5-10 MIN JOB)

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • 3 cloves

  • ½ tsp nutmeg

  • 1 strip orange peel

Add everything to a saucepan, simmer until sugar dissolves, then steep for 10 minutes. Strain and cool. Try not to drink it straight.

 METHOD (SHAKE LIKE YOU MEAN IT)

  1. Add vodka, espresso, coffee liqueur and spiced syrup to a shaker

  2. Fill with ice and shake hard for 10–15 seconds — this is where the magic (read: foam) happens

  3. Strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass

  4. Garnish (the moment): once that silky foam settles, lightly dust with cinnamon (or cocoa), then use a fine sieve, stencil, or knife tip to create a clean cross on top. Add coffee beans if you’re feeling extra.
